Horse Racing Terms: Tout

In horse racing terms, the dictionary describes a "Tout", as "...a person who gives information on a horse, especially for a fee...."

We all know these guys. They have brightly colored photo copies and yell a lot. In reality a "Tout" is just about anyone you stand next to at the track. We've all got opinions and lots of people want to share them. Do your homework, don't listen to anyone except yourself and your experience. It'll serve you far better in the long run. Study the past performances. Have a basic knowledge of horse behavior. And have fun.

Without the fun. Handicapping is just gambling.
