Hey all,
What a great day of racing we have here stakes galore, fast horses, slow horses, we've got it all. So lets see if we can make a little rent money.
True North- 6f on the dirt.
A whole bunch of class runners in this one, should be a speed fest.
4 Celtic Innis- With so much speed in this contest look for this entry coming late to get up. Should be a good price also...12-1 morning line.
5 Spanish Chestnut- SoCal G2 winner. Has a ton of ability. If he's right today, should be tough in this spot. Picks up super hot Leparoux for the ride.
1/1a Tiger ran a bang up race last out, and Voodoo is an old hand at these New York sprint races. Both classy contenders and a threat to run 1,2
7 Anew-Should be a decent price and fits well on numbers with this group. Assmussen is always a danger
Just A Game-1 mile on the grass fillies and mares
Couple scratches out of this one. Wend hurts the odds a little, but lets see if we can beat the expected favorite.
5 Mirabilis-Gomez and Frankel have a history of hooking up for big wins, see their back to back Pacific Classic wins with Skimming. Gomez has done well in NY stakes this year riding for pletcher and Frankel's track record is well known. Put this filly in the mix to beat the favorite.
2 Gorella- This lady has run well against the boys in some heavy competition. Should find her friends today a bit easier. Will be a shot price, but if you like her bet at the short odds anyway for a quick score to fund later endeavors
6 Pommes Frites- C. Velasquez and Mott a great in the NY area and are sure to have this filly on her toes. Looks to lead the field early. Possible Wire To Wire Threat.
Woody Stevens- 3yo's going 7f on the dirt
4 Fabulous Strike-Will be a good price (12-1 morning line). With the two favorites Songster and Too Much Bling throwing punches on the front end this entry should have good trip sitting right behind and if he's good enough can pounce at the top of the stretch.
9 Songster-Ran into an easy field last out going 7f on preakness day. Expect this entry to be sitting to outside of the 1 horses and looking for a weekness. Edgar Prado certainly doesn't hurt either.
1 Too Much Bling- This baffert entry has been on the should for 60 days and should be sharp and fresh. Ran a super race last out and may be Too Much Speed for this group.
Acorn stakes- 3yo fillies going one mile on the dirt
3 Bushfire-Tough customer here, won the ashland at keeneland and came back with a better then looked race in the oaks should like the one turn mile and has speed enough to stay close.
9 Ermine- Super race in the oaks, look for this filly coming on late to pick up the peices
1 Last Romance- This may have been the best filly that sat out the hustle and bustle of louisville. Prado should give her a good trip and Dutrow is always on his game.
Manhatten-3yo's and up 10f on the turf
5 Grey Swallow- on form this classy ex-irishmen should have this field over a barrel and it is the feeling of this player that Solis fits this colt like a glove.
8 English Channel- What can you say about this colt. He's been by far the most consisitent of any U.S. Turf runner over the last two years, ran well against high thought of Shakespere over this strip last year.
4 Cacique- This frankel runner has yet to win a Gr1 in the U.S. yet but he's been knocking on the door for a while now. Prado fits him well and look for him to get a good stalking trip.

Belmont Picks and analysis

Hey Kid fans,
Despite the lack of a Derby or Preakness winner in this years Belmont the race has come up as an impressive play for the everyday raceplayer. Few of the twelve horses heading for the starting gate can be tossed unequivocally from the race and has this gambler licking his chops at the types of opportunities abounding.
The lightly raced and talented Sun River is sure to take his share of the money, but with a win over the track in the Peter Pan and super hot Jock Bejarano aboard this colt is an excellent key on top. He's bred to go this far and Pletcher is looking big time to get his Triple Crown maiden broken.
Pletcher other entry, derby runner up Bluegrass Cat is freshened and ready to roll, but this colts on again off again race record is hard to ignore. My best reasoning suggests he's more of a play in the unders.
Jazil and Steppenwolfer are coming off big time races in the derby (4th and 3rd respectively). Jazil the little son of Seeking the Gold us doing well leading up to the race, but he missed a scheduled work last week and in coming into this race with no works in the last 10 days, whether he's fit enough is anybodies guess, but he should be flashing at the leaders late in the game. Steppenwolfer is known as more of grinder type of colt, but he work 6f in 1:10 and change just 7 days ago and this time of years 3yo's are improving by leaps and bounds. If he's closer then 4 or 5 lengths midway around the far turn he could get the job done.
West Point thoroughbred's High Finance is looking to send the partnership into the stratosphere with a front running score in the race. He's coming off two good wins in New York and with little true speed in the race he's a danger on the lead.
Deputy Glitter's in coming into the Belmont off of a disappointing effort in the Derby and it hard to imagine after this colt's last two that much improvement is to be expected, but his trainer is red hot right now having sent out the Preakness winner Bernardini last out and that combined with perennial leading New York and this years Derby winning Jock Edgar Prado, this colt may have a shot.
Bob Baffert is opting to run Wood winner Bob and John in this spot and keeping Point Determined in cali for the Affirmed, Swaps double. This is a strong one paced kind of colt and if he gets the distance he's got the talent to best this field.

Race Selections 6/8/06

Hey Kid Fan's,
Just throwing a little bone out there for ya. Mostly picks will be posted for weekend and weekly races of interest. So here's a couple beatable ones I found today.
Belmont Race 3 (Horses are in order of interest)
#PP Horse
4 Thunder Rain- Should get a good trip on or close to the lead, maybe a notch below the two favorites on paper, but the kid feels he can get it done at 4-1 or 9-2
5 Robin of Trinidad-Hard knocking gelding with the some of the best class figures in the field, should be coming to get up late.
6 Storm Whirl- strongest contender on paper, but may be to short a price to really be play able, try and get him beat with one of the top two picks.
Best bet= 4 with 5,6 exacta
Hollywood Race 2
#PP Horse
3 Grey Misty-Classy contender and the best on paper as well, should get the pace needed to get in done with 3 or 4 trying to get to the lead.
1 IZA Big Star-another one looking to close, Court has been going great guns all year and may get this one home at 7 or 8-1
7 Hard to pass on this horse, fit right there with the top pick on paper and should have first run at the leaders. P Val on this kind of horse in deadly.
Best Bet= 3,1,7 Tri box

Hey all,
The Picture to the left says a lot about why I love this sport of kings so very much. It says power and excellence in the face of a challenge. It captures a moment in time when an animal of flesh and bone transcended a sport and shattered every notion of what was and wasn't possible by a racehorse.
31 lengths
2:24 flat, a world record for a mile and half on dirt that has never been challenged.
Pure speed and heart (Secretariat had one of the largest hearts ever recorded for a thoroughbred)
In the coming days and months, years, maybe decades we'll come back to this picture and wonder if we'll ever see another like Secretariat, but in the here and now all we can do is hope that we will.
Hi I'm the kid and I like to handicap(gamble) on racehorses.
